Recycle Old Clothes

According to the Council on the Environment of New York City (CENYC), 5.7% of NYC's residential waste is textiles, even though they are recyclable. So instead of throwing old clothes away, you can drop them off at a CENYC textile collection. There are collections at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket (at the north west entrance to Prospect Park) on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
